Set of sails for a YM Senior

Post by Joao »

Hello Everyone,

So I had a great time last year learning to sail my newly bough YM senior MIKROS from 1967.
In the meantime I got in touch with Geoffrey Hyde Fynn, who is the original owner and son of the builder, and have learned much from him regarding rigging and maintenance. One thing he told me is that I should look into replacing the sails.

Does anyone have a set of bermudan rig sails for a YM senior in good condition and not in use?

Or does anyone know a sailmaker that wont break the bank? How much would they cost more or less?

I would love to make them myself, but I am just concerned I might make a mess...

I'm in London and Mikros is in the river Medway in Gillingham.

Kind regards,
Joao

Hi Joao
Can I suggest that you ask Jeckells in Wroxham for a price. I have always found them to be very good.

Hi Joao
It is going ok thanks, although progress has slowed recently for a variety of reasons. She is still upside down and I am yet to finish painting. I will post some pics when I am ready to turn her.
All the best
Keith
