Forum back up and running again.
Sorry to those who have not been able to join in recent months, we were hit by a rather nasty Spammer who inundated us with Russian websites. The Webmaster has found new security measures adn opend the Forum for users again, I will put a note on the main site. For the forseeable future all those tha...

SPAM
Sorry folks but the forum has had to be partially disabled to prevent the mindless Spammers covering it in rubbish. We had been hit with dozens of false registrations purporting to come from Russia etc but from anonymous IP addresses in reality, and inviting all to buy watches and other less tastefu...

Re: Wooden fender trim for GH
Hello Gary, The gunwhale was either Teak or maybe Afromosia and would look best in that timber, plastic fendering just looks tacky on proper boats! If you have a problem bending it into place get hold of half thickness timber and put 2 layers on, glueing together with epoxy, much stronger and easier...

Re: YM E399 - 24ft Eventide -Trying to find her again
Hello Ray, I have found her under the name Omrod and a reference to an advert in a 1996 magazine For Sale in Maylandsea, Essex. Any offers to a Brian Cox with a tele number, in Cambridgeshire! mail me at enquiries@eventides.org.uk if you want to try the number! Seems she was in a dire state then hav...

Re: Silverhow - Where has she been?
thinking about this one, the dates are often the launch dates, if a boat was sold for home fitting out the actual launch date may have been a few years down the line, which may explain the discrepancies.

Hope by now the drawings have been examines in depth.
Good luck with the project, she would not be the first Waterwitch to sail round the world, but maybe the first Finnish one!

John

Hello Alan,
Would be great if you can, had no idea she was moored so close to where we sail from, just across the river, wonder if I have ever seen her and not known!?!?

john

Re: Tony Scrace - Boat sold - Eirene
Hello Angus, great to have you aboard, your dad is quite a character! I spoke to him a few days/weeks back when i had this enquiry and I hope Neville is now in touch, but if not this contact will do the trick. Eirene is bobbing about on her mooring in Bradwell creek at the moment, sadly though I do ...

Re: Performance of golden hind without bilge keels ?
Look at the other post re bilge keels They are not just there to assist drying out I can assure you. If you remove them be prepared to add weight internally at least 500lb and to accept the increased rolling and lessened windward ability. If you really want to go for speed, remove bilge plates and m...

Re: Fuel tank modification needed?
The problem you will get with a half full tank will be condensation. When you run the motor the bleed back is hot, heating the tank, any air above the fuel in the tank will have water in it and now being warm will condense its water content against the sides of the tank, as they are cooler. That wat...
Re: cascover
Hello Rob, sorry for delay responding, I have just noticed the post. (A mail direct to enquiries@eventides.org.uk always gets us right away, for next time!) Cascover is a nylon cloth covering gued with recourcinol glue, it is excellent. Any damage can easily be repaired by sanding to a clean surface...

Re: gh 31 boom track for ketch rig and weatherhelm
Hello Gary, Sadly no sail plan available here, other than the ones on the site, but looking at a picture of the GH 31 La Corbeau, it appears that the main sheet is anchored to the mizen mast about head height, when sat in the cockpit! Re the Weather helm, I cannot say for sure, but I would suspect t...

Re: New owners of Cinabbar
I just love the name of this boar, very clever! Sadly we have no difinitive numbers for the Barbicans produced and the waters were middied slightly by there being s few home completions and even a few of the earlier Atlantic clippers hulls built to look like Barbican, without the Capt Pugwash aft ca...

Hello Ray,
Drop us a mail at enquiries@eventides.org.uk and i will try and look up the boat on our extensive records, she may well be still arround and may well be a member of the group, we have nearly 1,400 now.
