Kylix Handicap?

Post by jdsailor »

Hi all,

Would anyone have an idea on what a kylix's portsmouth yardstick/handicap would be?

Many thanks in advance

I believe the yardstick figures are derived by analysis of racing results.

Unfortunately, that means for less common boats there is unlikely to be an official handicap figure. This is especially the case where there may be some variation in the design.

Sorry I can't be more help, I hope someone else knows better

I just looked in "60 years a yacht designer" ISBN 0-85177--471-7 and there is no mention of any perfomance ratings in there, Sorry. :(

Thanks for the replies :)

I did think that there wouldn't be an official PY but was just wondering if there is anyone else occasionally racing a Kylix and would know the PY they are sailing on.

Thanks again

It might be worth having a word with whoever is organising the racing, they may well be agreeable to giving you a PY number that makes you competitive for casual racing based on you in your boat rather than any more formal figure.
