May Marie from Dream Shiops

Post by artisanpete »

Hi all I'm Peter Allen and although not an eventide owner i have an interest in Maurice Griffiths
I have recently bought a Morecame Bay Prawner May Marie which i believe is featured in Maurice Griffiths book Dream Ships
She has been converted to a Bermudan cutter in the 50s or early 60s and i wish to return her to her original rig
If any one has or knows of any pictures or plans of her or for that matter any other information i would be delighted to hear from you
Yours excited researcher artisanpete

Hello Peter.

Indeed your vessel is featured on page 41 of Dreamships, in a section describing seaworthy working vessels and their heritage. MG refers to the number converted to homely cruising boats.

However there are no line drawings in the book. I would have thought a place to search may be the maritime museums of the area, or the National one at Greenwich or maybe Falmouth. Many have line drawings and sail plans and though they may not actually have the drawings of May Marie bet they have some very similar!

Good hunting,
John
