manual anchor winch

Post by merijntinga »

Does anyone have a technical drawing of the original anchor winch of the Golden Hind 31?

I am having a lot of trouble taking it apart. For instance: does the wooden brake sock(? -dont know the english word) slide of the axis? There seems to be some movement.

The problem is that the winch does not work any more; the lever does not go into gear.

Anchor winches

Post by Eventide Owners Group »

From what I have seen various anchor winches have been fitted to Golden Hinds. It would appear to be the owners choice at the time of building.

If you can mail a picture in to the eventiders maybe we can identify it or post it on the pages to see if anyone else can. Bear in mind that several large chandlery companies have gone broke over the years, includinr several winch makers...

It may have to be a new one...
