Volvo Penta Inboard

Postby Mike Brown » Wed April 4th, 2007, 6:13 am

I have just bought a 1970 volvo penta MD1B, 10bhp diesel inboard motor that I am going to fit to my 24ft Eventide.
Does any have or know where I could get a copy of the workshop manual and owners manual for this lovely wee motor.

Kind regards

Hi Mike,

You should be able to down load an "Operators manual" from HERE
and a workshop manual from HERE

I hope the engine lives up to your expectations. Fouling up of the cooling system is a problem. I'm more familiar with the 2 cylinder and slightly later MD11. With that small passages in the exhast manifold that carry the incoming water to the heads get blocked. I am sure there is a similar passage in yours which you may well like to check and clear out before installing it. The water jackets in the block also tend to get full of crud but cleaning those out is not so simple.

Be warned spares are expensive
