Wild Duck

I thought I would disturb the calm and peaceful waters of this forum with a small amount of, hopefully, relevant and acceptable news.

I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere, but someone directed me to http://www.modelboats.co.uk/news/articl ... duck/25248.

Our own Wild Duck is, sadly, currently still laid up out of the water in North Wales, as has been the case for the last couple of years. Partly, this is due to my family commitments, which tie me to home every day, but mainly it's the fault of my son, who, with some help from his brother and sister, built her from the ground up with me.
He has been the main driving force in keeping us sailing, but has now fallen into the exotic world of international yacht racing, taking pupils from his inner city school with him. The entirely self-funded project has a dinghy fleet, mid-range boats and the German Freres 45-foot racing yacht "Scaramouche" with which his schoolboy crew have taken part in the Round the Island Race, several cross channel races, and culminating in this year's Fastnet.

I do realise that this forum (and I) doesn't really relate to racing, but this project, on top of his day job, means he no longer has the time to do all the work, under my supervision of course, on our Wild Duck. We might move her away from me, down south, which would be good as she provided so much inspiration.

You are quite right , we do not do racing! But we are interested in youth projects having donated to several over the years!

the link to the model WildDuck was interesting, thouth the link to where the drawings are available has changed, we can supply them at cost, £5.00 UK without any other payments. They are available to anyone enrolled with us.

We also have seen radio controlled Eventides and Seniors, great fun.

hopefully the real WildDuck will be back on the water and enjoyed in the not too distant future.

Regards,
John
