Motor sailer - MG designed 1970 ketch

Postby jacksone » Wed June 18th, 2008, 10:12 pm

Hi

We currently own a MG designed 32ft ketch rigged motor sailer (long keel with bilge plates). She was built in 1970 and we were told she was designed for the Commodore of the Fleetwood Sailing Club. She has been lovingly maintained and restored and even has a king size bed! We are in the process of trying to sell it yet are struggling to come up with a value because she is a very unique style of boat. Even brokers who we have asked have been stumped. We would really appreciate any information regarding the best places to advertise, any guesses at her value and maybe more importantly any information regarding her possible history! Thanks very much

Right - just worked out how to do it on line - hopefully if you click on this link it will show you a few photos - we don't have any digital ones of her underway but will be doing that in the next couple of weeks. Although the second link will take you to a short video of her sailing a couple of weeks ago. Thanks

Re MG design?

Looking at the pics and video she could well be a Waterwitch. She has the right hull deck line and raised topsides. Ketch rig was a WW option. the wheelhouse is an additional. I believe we may already have pics of her on the WW page of the Gallery! Have you a buiders name? We have lots of old records we can look up.

What is length and breadth, that would clinch it.

If you have not already done so do enrol, so we might keep more details of her, and you!

Value? how long is a bit of string? Depends what else is about and how much the buyer wants it... Values tend to be a lot lower than GRP production built boats anyway and 5 to 6 k would not be unheard of as a selling price. To get more she would need a full survey with all the boxes ticked. unlikely. For instance when was the rig last renewed or a keel bolt pulled?

Looks like a great boat, hope you get to enjoy her for a while! Shere is she now, looked like Dover?
