Re: Athaena - Foredeck repairs

Hello Chris, sounds as if you will be OK. I Just worry about s/s underwater, seen it dissapear to nothing. Have a set of keelbolts here that I have photographed and put on the site, looks like a metal worm has eaten right through them. Hasten to add they were not mine! In wet timber with no oxygen t...

Re: Golden Hind restoration

I would agree with Chris about epoxy and new build and also that you would have to be very careful not to epoxy in trouble on older boats. All has to be scrupulously clean and rot free! As for designing out problems.. Seems to me that most rot problems are associated with leaking decks, so properly ...

Re: Athaena - Foredeck repairs

Looks a real 'proper job!' Well done, still struggling here to get Fiddler's Green ready for the water, lots of silly delays this year, but as the weather has not been up to much so far, I do not think I've missed anything! Your restoration is going to make a good page for the Newsletter! Regards, J...

Re: Athaena - Foredeck repairs

Hello Chris, this all looks very well done. At the speed I'm going this year you will be afloat before me!

Any chance of sending all those pics and the text to me as jpgs and word text, so I can include the lot in the next newsletter?

Regards,
John

Re: Almost all the YM designs

Just checked all the CD's listed against the designs on the specs page. I am assuming that if you are interested in a particular design you would look at the specs page.... As for boat tests, we can only print what we have and do not have actual comparison tests, nor sail tests for the Barrier Reef ...

Re: Almost all the YM designs

Good ideas Steve, but I thought that was exactly what is on the designs page??? and the specs page?? That also lists the CD's..... I will have to look to see if any of what you suggest is missing, but from memory it is all there. Down to descriptions of every design, I think I wrote most of them! If...

Re: Athaena - Foredeck repairs

Hi Chris,

given the amount of work involved in removing all that I guess you have opted for the best option. Bet it lasts for years and years and will be darned strong too.

At this rate you will be afloat in time for Easter!

John

Re: Haven't stopped looking for an Eventide!

Keep looking Simon, there are a lot out there....! we get a few on the site, but there must be dozens in the backs of boatyards up and down the country, just needs time and legwork! Sadly in Essex i have heard of a couple of boatyards breaking up wooden boats as their owners give up on them and cann...

Hello Rob, sorry it has taken so long for you to get an answer, but I hope you are one of the people who asked the same question by mailing us direct on enquiries@eventides.org.uk The system you may have entails a double ended main sheet with two cleats one either side of the cockpit. Some like this...
