Re: GH 31 Ketch main mast position

Hello All, Yes I have found a sail plan in amoungst all the paperwork and will have to have it scanned on a large machine, as it is too big for my A4 scanner. It is a shame Dave never came back so we could save these old drawings for all to enjoy, we have a small collection now, mainly thanks to Mar...

Re: Ballast for Centreboard Senior

Hello Bob, Yes, after F3 as the boat begins to heel to the wind, when beating upwind, all the effects of hull shape, changed waterline shape due to heeling, centres of lateral resistance and centres of sail area come into play. In my Eventide 26 ( 27'3" if Im honest, without the bowsprit...) at...

Re: Ballast for Centreboard Senior and weather helm

Hello Martin, I would have thought the better option was the small bowsprit, this extends the sail area forward thus removing the weather helm. Can also make a good stowage place for muddy anchors! I have never heard that mny complaints about 'severe' weather helm on a Senior, not like the early Eve...

Re: Ballast for Centreboard Senior

Hello Bob and Martin, The Senior comes in several guises and the centreboard is the one that some claim is the easiest to launch and recover and the fastest. but there is a down side. it was designed with no internal ballast and supposed to be sailed like a large dinghy! fine for sheltered water. I ...

Re: 500th Registrant

It is January 2015 and we have been updating the site and Forum. Idly scanning through I found this entry! the current tally of enrolled members is 1500!!!! When we started off 12 years back we thought we might just get back the 65 who were snubbed by the old committee. But we started something ! Th...

Re: It's a pity that the Forum is not very current

Hello folks I was wondering where to put a notice up about the Forum being down, and after reading this page I thought here is as good a place as any. The title of this page is wrong. it should not read that the site is not very current, because that is, it is just this forum page! The forum is only...

Re: Eventide Prop Size

There is a link to a free prop calculator program on the 'builders and restorers page of the site. You download it to your machine and use in there, very simple but it works! Not much point in looking at the size of props on other Eventides, unless you have the same engine, same power and revs, same...

Re: rose bay

Hello John, suspect you have the original 'builders plaque' on board with this information on it. Do send details in to us via our real mail address, enquiries@eventides.org.uk and we will be able to publish them on the site. The forum is not always monitored. Good luck with the restoration, hopeful...

Re: May Marie from Dream Shiops

Hello Peter. Indeed your vessel is featured on page 41 of Dreamships, in a section describing seaworthy working vessels and their heritage. MG refers to the number converted to homely cruising boats. However there are no line drawings in the book. I would have thought a place to search may be the ma...

Have searched about but no trace of Milly.

Good luck seeking a Golden hind. there appears to be quite a few on the market, at all prices and conditions.

Re: Keel Bolt replacement

Hello Lynn, the answer was actually in the preceeding message. Eventides have a cast iron keel, as do most of our boats and should have mild steel galvanised bolts. these should be checked periodically. I draw one bolt, a different one, every 5 years, just to check. did one this time last year, stil...
