painting
Hello John, I suspect you mean Carvel, that is planks joined edge to edge, rather than the over lapping of Clinker. First off chose a paint manufacturer whose paints you can buy locally, Blakes or International etc and stick with one company.... Get their booklet, normally given away freely, giving ...

Removing bolts...
Have done this with my E 24 and my current E27.. I supported the boat on it's bilge keels chocking up for and aft to prevent it tippimng, then removed all the bolts and lifted the hull clear on Jacks under the bilge keels. I have seen people dig holes to remove bolts one by one, but that does not al...

Pochard.
Pochard features in a few of the old eoa magazines, she was owned by John Ashley for many years and sailed on the Essex coast. she was run ashore in Fog once, hit a breakwater off clacton! Was salvaged by john and sailed on the next day! He was a character! I know john moved down to Dorset, some tim...

Hello Chris I must have had a premonition about this! When last on board I took a series of pics of my self tacking staysail, to write an article! I will sort out the pics and put them on the hints and tips page! In the meantime sort out an old dinghy boom with gooseneck fitting and the old main she...

Hello Wally, the rudder will have been a one off to the drawings, they all were, so no one shop for bits sadly. If the rudder is in that much of a state I would suggest removing it all and strongly consider going for the MG transom hung version instead. See the hints and Tips page for the drawing! I...

3 Tonner sheets
Hello Len, we are just short of 1 sheet, the alternative gaff rig sheet. One of our Steering Group thinks he may even have a copy of this, but as he is in total upheaval from a house move, it has not been found yet! Certainly all the hull drawings are there. contact us by E-mail if you want a CD and...

Boat building books
I was heavily involved with the editing and updating of Michael Verney's 'Building Chine Boats'. I had it reprinted, then a twerp on the old eoa lost all the metal plates for it, so I had to have a copy of my own scanned and redone for a later reprint! It used to be sold by the old eoa years ago, bu...

Drawings available
Hi Len, Double chine and single chine have both been about for years, and yes a single chine boat is more spacious inside too, see the Thames Barges or the WW or Eventide.... they do not sail badly either, for as the boats heel the hull presents a Vee to the water and therefore cuts it better. As fo...
