Re: Yachting Monthly Senior

You could try Steve Hall of North Sea Sails in Tollesbury, Essex. He made the headsails for my Senior which also have Wykham Martin furling gear.

Re: Converting a bilge keeled Senior to centre-board

Thanks for that Chris. It looks like a good arrangement, though as you say you lose the advantage of sitting upright on the mud or sand. I have heard of another possibility which was Kenneth Gibbs' own idea which is to increase the depth of the bilge keels and the central keel by 6 inches. (The bilg...

Re: Converting a bilge keeled Senior to centre-board

I'd like to add a centre-plate but I want to keep those parts of the ballast keel which will not interfere with t...

A couple of things: firstly, yes a Senior looks something like Charles Stocks' modified Fairey Falcon but his boat is more capable to windward than most Seniors (irrespective of his incredible skill) because he has a centre-pl...

Re: SENIOR GUNTER RIG DETAILS

Louie: There are advantages to the gunter rig. The spars are shorter and when you reef the sail you lower the height of the whole rig. It's also almost as efficient as the bermudan mainsail. I have a photo of my sail which shows the key features of the running rigging. You need two halyards: a peak ...
