How to rig boomed staysail on cutter rig
Hi, Does anyone have any photo's of how they've rigged a boomed staysail? I have a selection of deck fittings and the like, but not really sure how to run the string. The halyards etc are no problem, it's how the sheets should be arranged for a "self tacking" (or so I believe) staysail on a cutter. ...

Thanks John, I will definitely do that. One last pic though, just to finish off the story, the maiden voyage...

Painting and antifouling is finished and she's booked to go in next Saturday morning! Just hope the weather is nice to me so I can get the Coelan on the deck before then. (No great worry if I have to do it after launch, just would be easier to do some bit's on dry land). http://farm5.stati...

Re: Anodes on GH hull
Ahh if things are 'earthed' to the anodes you may well be OK (I presume you mean there are earthing wires going to the anodes?), you just need to ensure that the connections and wires are sound and that everything that needs to be connected is. I wouldn't worry too much about the boat taking on wate...

Re: Anodes on GH hull
Hi Gary, I think you've posted in exactly the right place :D I'm no expert either but having the anodes fastened through a wooden hull definitely sounds wrong to me. Are there any connections from the anodes to metal parts of the boat? I would expect the anodes to either be bolted to the metal parts...

A bit more progress to report, should be in just in time for the end of the season   The teak was left weighed down for a week to allow the Sealtack to cure fully. Then there was plenty of sanding to get the new teak levelled smoothly with the original stuff. http://farm5.static.flickr.co...

Hi Jason, Sorry to hear your bad news and I'm afraid I'm not able to suggest a replacement. However, I might have been admiring your boat last weekend at Hull marina. Were you in the South East corner near the Sea Chanty stage when the Clipper Round the World fleet were in town? If you need an extra...

Re: Athaena - Foredeck repairs
Hello Chris, not so sure about the stainless bolts, unless they are totally sealed in Sikaflex so no part is in the water.. It's A4 stainless completely covered in Sikaflex 291. Mind you bearing in mind your comments I'll keep an eye on them. They're belt and braces in any event everything is Sika'...

You're bound to find it, I consoled myself with thinking at least it was a problem found rather than something unknown getting worse.

1) What is he best way to prevent fresh water ingress? 2) Where are the rot weakness areas on eventide, riptide and WW, can they be designed out? 3) What are the preferred painting options v cost? Well just my opinions but I'd say: 1) Stop the rain getting in, so a cover and well sealed decks (epox...

Re: Athaena - Foredeck repairs
A little more progress to report, it's surprising how much time trying to get it right takes!! The new samson post is fitted and the bowsprit bolted back in place with A4 stainless bolts this time round rather than the old galvanised coach bolts that rotted. All bedded on Sikaflex to give a g...
